K L Saigal (1904--1947) is considered as the first superstar of the Hindi film industry. Kundan Lal Saigal was born on 11th April, 1904 at Nawa Shahar in Jammu State. His mother was a deeply religious lady who was very fond of music. She used to take young Kundan to various religious functions where Bhajan, Keertan and Shabad were sung in traditional styles. Kundan Lal often accompanied his father to the interior parts of the State where he would soak into the folk music of Punjab and Kashmir straight from the wandering shepherds.

His formal schooling was brief and uneventful. He started earning by working in the Railways as a timekeeper and later at the Remington Typewriters as a salesman, which allowed him to tour to several places in India. Meanwhile, his passion for singing continued and became more intense with the passage of time. Finally, he landed at Calcutta in early 1930s and met R C Boral, music director of New Theatres. R C Boral took instant liking to his talents and Saigal was employed on a contract basis.

Aawara Aye Mera Dil Lyrics from Raat Aur Din

 Aawara ye mere dil
 Jaane kaha hai teri manjil
 Aawara...

Veeranome, sehara ome, aati jati in raho me
Tere isaharon par, nachi me jivan bhar
 Aawara ye mere dil
 Jaane kaha hai teri manjil
 Aawara...

 Kaise kaise tufan aaye
 Biajali chamki, badal chaye
Par na ruke hum tum, par na zuke hum tum
 Aawara ye mere dil
 Jaane kaha hai teri manjil
 Aawara...

Rat aur din ke ye do chehare
Kab tak pehanoo, kuch to kehade
Kon hoon me kya hoon, such hoon ke saya hoon
 Aawara ye mere dil
 Jaane kaha hai teri manjil
 Aawara... - (2)

Raat Aur Din Diya Jale Lyrics from Raat Aur Din

Raat aur din diya jale, mere man me phir bhi andhiyara hai - (2)
Jane kaha hai wo sathi, tu jo mile jivan ujiyara hai,
 Raat aur din......

Pag pag man mera thokar khaye, chand suraj bhi raah na dikhaye - (2)
Aisa ujyala koi man me samaye, jisase piya ka darshan mil jaye,
Raat aur din diya jale, mere man me phir bhi andhiyara hai,
Jane kaha hai wo sathi, tu jo mole jivan ujiyara hai,
 Raat aur din......

Gehara ye bhed koi muzako bataye, kisane kiya hai muzper annyay - (2)
Jisaka ho dikh o sukh nahi paye, joat diye ki tuze ghar ko sajay,
Raat aur din diya jale, mere man me phir bhi andhiyara hai - (2)
Jane kaha hai wo sathi, tu jo mole jivan ujiyara hai,
 Raat aur din......

Khud nahi janu dhunde kisako najar, kon disha hai meri man ki dagar - (2)
Itana ajab ye dil ka safar, nadiyan me aaye jaye jaise lehar,
Raat aur din diya jale, mere man me phir bhi andhiyara hai - (2)
Jane kaha hai wo sathi, tu jo mole jivan ujiyara hai,
 Raat aur din......

Dil Ki Girah Khol Do Lyrics from Raat Aur Din

Mehaphil me ab kon hai ajanabi, tum mere pass aao

Shishe me apne dubo do, sab fasalo duriyonko
Ankhon me mai muskuraoon tumahari jo tum muskurao
Mehaphil me ab kon hai ajanabi, tum mere pass aao

Sapanoki zilmil nagar me, jaane kaha kho gaye ab
Mehaphil me ab kon hai ajanabi, tum mere pass aao

Mudkar nahi dekhate hum, dil me kaha hai chala chal
Jo dur piche kahi rah gaye ab unhe mat bulao
Mehaphil me ab kon hai ajanabi, tum mere pass aao

Story Line :-Dancer maestro Mangal Maharaj wants his son, Girdhar, who is a dancer par excellence, to enter the once-in-ten-years Nateshwar Utsav dance competition, win it, and be crowned the Bharat Natraj. While Girdhar can do a solo dance number, he is also required to dance the Shiv-Parvati Tandav dance with a female partner. Mangal Maharaj would like Roopkala to be his partner, but ends up being disappointed with her. Now with only a year left for the Utsav, he chances upon talented dancer and singer, Neeladevi, and recruits her. He subjects her to strenuous training and he is pleased with her performance. Then he finds out that Girdhar and Neela have fallen in love with each other, and their involvement is interfering with their performance. Unhappy with Neeladevi, he dismisses her, and sets forth to look for another dancer. The question remains: Will he be able to find another one, train her, and make her compete just in time for the Utsav, or will he lose this opportunity altogether and wait for another 10 years?

    aas kab tak rahegi adhoori
